7 Obstacles to Fat Loss

Check out the following 7 Obstacles to Fat Loss to identify what’s keeping you from achieving your goals, and how to start effectively transforming yourself.

Experiencing the frustration of trying and failing to lose weight is an all-too-common scenario.

Check out the following 7 Obstacles to Fat Loss to identify what’s keeping you from achieving your goals, and how to start effectively transforming yourself.

Obstacle to Fat Loss #1: Your Mindset

Your mindset is the most powerful tool when it comes to attaining your objectives. However, unless your mindset is primed for success, it can actually work against you, undermining your efforts.

Spend a few minutes each day envisioning yourself at your target weight. Picture the feeling of attaining your desired appearance. Guard your thoughts against negative self-criticism. Whenever a negative thought arises, immediately dismiss it. You aspire to be fit and lean, but you perceive yourself as overweight and unfit. Recondition your mind to see yourself as fit and appealing, which is a significant step towards your goal. Relinquish the notion that you can’t attain the physique you’ve always dreamed of. Visualize it in your mind first, then observe it in the mirror.

Obstacle to Fat Loss #2: Your Anxiety

Even a positive change can provoke anxiety in most of us. You may not be aware of the underlying fear of becoming fit. Until you overcome this fear, your weight loss efforts will be thwarted by self-sabotage.

Anthony Robbins, a renowned motivational speaker and author, has outlined three core beliefs needed to conquer your fear and immediately facilitate lasting change.

Believe something MUST change. This cannot be a vague notion or a tentative consideration. You need unwavering certainty. Believe that YOU are the one to initiate this change. You can’t shift the responsibility if you wish to lose weight. It lies on your shoulders. Although others may assist you along your journey, ultimately, it’s you who will make it happen. Your desire for weight loss should be strong enough to become your personal mission. Believe you CAN effect the change. Past failures are irrelevant. When you are determined, you can achieve incredible feats. Do you believe you are capable of losing weight? Once you hold this belief, nothing can stop you.

Obstacle to Fat Loss #3: Your Justifications

The justifications you make for being out of shape are becoming tiresome. Excuses might require less immediate effort than action, but over time, those who take action always win. Stop letting excuses dominate your life.

Avoid shirking responsibilities with justifications, instead, demand more from yourself. Keep the primary reason for your weight loss at the forefront of your mind. Make a list of the advantages you’ll gain once you reach your goal, and review them every morning. Remember, you can only possess one of two things in life: justifications or results. Which one will you choose?

Obstacle to Fat Loss #4: Your Dedication

How many times have you embarked on a weight loss journey, only to abandon it after a few weeks? We live in a world that often lacks commitment, so it’s not surprising that you frequently neglect your goals. If you truly want to lose weight, your dedication to the process is non-negotiable.

The gap between success and failure is bridged by your dedication. Persist until your goal is accomplished. Treat physical exercise with the same priority as a business meeting, and you’ll never cancel it last-minute. Find three 60-minute slots in your schedule and firmly mark them on your calendar. Then adhere to this schedule. If you persist, failure is never an option.

Obstacle to Fat Loss #5: Your Nutrition

If your diet is consistently unhealthy, your weight loss efforts will be futile. To put it simply, you need to eliminate junk food. Processed foods, refined sugars, and high fructose corn syrup have no place in your diet if your aim is to be in top shape. Replace these items with wholesome foods like lean meats, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and fruits.

Avoid consuming processed foods. Even though they’re commonly accepted in our society, they’re packed with harmful chemicals and empty calories that contribute to illness and weight gain. Since fat has double the caloric density of proteins and carbs, regulate your intake. Incorporate a large amount of lean proteins and wholesome carbohydrates from plants and whole grains into your diet. Vegetables, whole grains, fruits, nuts, and seeds are rich in fiber and antioxidants, which are essential for healthy weight loss. Snack on these instead of pre-packaged treats.

Obstacle to Fat Loss #6: Your Patience

Transforming your body from overweight to fit requires time, even if you wish it could happen overnight. Remember that gaining weight was a slow process, so losing it will be too. When your patience starts to wane, or when you hit a discouraging plateau, consider these points:

Review your goal. Is it specific, measurable, and realistically achievable? Keep your focus on your goal when things get tough. Make each workout a fresh challenge. Stimulate your body with varying resistance, new exercises, and varying intensity. Understand that a single intense workout won’t get you the body you desire. Consistent exercise and proper nutrition are the keys to achieving your goal, no exceptions.

Obstacle to Fat Loss #7: Your Support System

People who exercise alone often face less challenge, hold less accountability, and are more prone to failure. It’s understandable – who would eagerly go to the gym if nobody expected them to? Who would push their limits if nobody noticed? Exercising in isolation is a formula for failure.
